REVIEW

I finished this book in about 2 days, during free time after work. I was intrigued by the characters and intimacy scenes, of course. If you’re looking for more story and less spice, this isn’t the story for you. Some things I enjoyed: • The FMC shows some growth and maturing through the course of the story, which is refreshing. She doesn’t have the damsel-in-distress vibe that can be really annoying. I love a good strong female lead. • The spice scenes, while numerous, were definitely nice to read. I enjoyed some of the taboo themes that took place. Make sure you check out TWs. • I hated some of the characters at first, I won’t lie. But they grew on me really quickly and I enjoyed the relationships they had with one another. Definitely a nice kitchen table poly vibe that is really comfy. • Katee also did a nice job depicting polyamorous relationships. There was a mix of the jealousy that comes up, as well as the compersion some people feel for their partners’ happiness. But there were also a lot of things about this story that bothered me and took away some of the stars on my rating. • There are continuity errors. I won’t point them out because I don’t want to give spoilers. You may not notice them, but I did. • Some of the spice felt forced and didn’t make sense for the situation that was happening; one minute, a character is having a heart to heart conversation, and then in the next paragraph they’re going at it. It leaves a bit to be desired. Maybe it’s because I am demisexual, but still, some of it left my head spinning like “how did we get here???” • This may not be a big issue to some, but there were a lot of spelling and grammatical errors. It read like fan fiction, which is fine! I love fan fiction. I guess I just expected differently after reading the well-polished Dark Olympus series. • The beginning is a little… rough. Much the same as what I said about the spice scenes above also applies to the beginning itself. Again, I don’t want to spoil anything, but with the way that FMC and the first vampire meet and the things that ensue, I was kind of scratching my head at first. No lead in, no buildup. Just… bam. Some people might not mind it. I don’t mind it THAT much. But I could’ve definitely used some exposition.
