Delivers big thrills and even bigger laughs."-- Jeff Kinney, author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Diary of a Wimpy Kid Ever since the monster apocalypse hit town, average thirteen year old Jack Sullivan has been living in his tree house, which he's armed to the teeth with catapults and a moat, not to mention video games and an endless supply of Oreos and Mountain Dew scavenged from abandoned stores. But Jack alone is no match for the hordes of Zombies and Winged Wretches and Vine Thingies, and especially not for the eerily intelligent monster known only as Blarg . So Jack builds a team: his dorky best friend, Quint; the reformed middle school bully, Dirk; Jack's loyal pet monster, Rover; and the fiercest girl Jack knows, June. With their help, Jack is going to slay Blarg, achieve the ultimate Feat of Apocalyptic Success, and be average no longer! Can he do it? Told in a mixture of text and black-and-white illustration, this is the perfect series for any kid who's ever dreamed of starring in their own comic book or video game. Read more

REVIEW

I have been hunting for a book that would help my son fall in love with reading. I’ve strikes out, until now. I bought this book knowing it may be too advanced for my son to read completely on his own, so I was aware it might be more of a read-aloud then a read-alone. But what I really wanted was for him to fall in love with the written word. And this knocked it out of the ballpark. Out! All the way out. We started the book yesterday and finished it in less than 24 hours. He was begging me to read him more, and now he’s begging for the next book. I am so excited to see how excited he is about reading now. I’m finding the story very fun to read, it’s entertaining and funny and sweet at times. I have a good feeling he’s going to be reading this series (eventually entirely on his own one day) for years to come. Every kid should have a memory of that series that made you want to stay up all night reading with a flashlight. Mine was Emily of Blue Moon, and it looks like my son’s is going to be The Last Kids on Earth. Bravo Max for creating a book approved by both a 7-year old boy and his 41-year old mom!
